And So It Continues

I have and yet I haven’t really thought much about the blog due to the overwhelming of things that I've been making and doing do to either “Much Ado” and “Hairspray”  but that doesn't necessarily mean it’s been completely out of my mind ether. This last weekend I was making a workable rod puppet. To show at the production meeting, that will take place today. As well as some more masks which I have now 3/9 completed. And as soon as this class period is done I will be going into the scene shop to saw a rod to make into a scroll. So that’s where I lie in the props. Also do you have any idea how much Muppet show I've been watching this weekend?!? Too much.

Here are some photo's of the masks I ended up making. (Note: I needed to keep commedia dell'arte masks in mind when I'm making these.)
This was what i was working with in the biginning; just some foam and a cheep mask
and this was the end result
And together from lift to right I have; Arlecchino, Scaramuccia, and Capitano!

And with Hairspray. God I hate the Mashed potato. I can kind of dance it, but I still feel kind of, well, special when I do, but that’s why I’m glad that I’m not trying out for the show I’m just taking some of the class’s that the actors are taking so that way by when winter comes’ I won’t be in the dark on what’s been going on in preparation for the show…I just really hate the Mash Potato…well my ankles do anyways. But not the Pony. LOVE the pony. But one of the reasons for that is because I and two other actors well sort of gang up on people doing the pony while repeating “and pony, and pony, AND PONY, AND PONY” while getting progressively louder and closer, and well just frighteningly disturbing. HA! It’s hilarious and fantastic at the same time…but not to the person on the other end. LOL to them it’s terrifying. LMAO. (Side note: these people are our friends, we don’t actually pick some random person off the street. Though if any away to get a restraining order, that would be the way to do it :D)

OH! Fun fact about 1962 the pull tabs for cans were introduce to the public; The More You Know :D.

  1. I'm glad someone is writing about theater. You're sharing a lot of good thoughts and giving us a window on your world, but don't forget that you're writing FOR readers. Some of what you've written needs more context, even translation for your ESOL classmates.

  2. I'd like to learn more about how you make the props, I think that would be an interesting blog entry. One thing that made it difficult to read was all the grammar and spelling errors. Something I like to do is have someone who's really good with grammar to read over and edit my stuff.

  3. I don't know too much about theater or either of the plays you're working on but it does sound really fun. I'd like to know more about the masks, what exactly they're for and how you come up with the designs.
